BBL Forever Clear FAQs
What is BBL Forever Clear?
BBL for the use in acne treatment utilized light to destroy or minimize Propionibacterium acnes bacteria (P. acnes), reduce inflammation, and minimize over production of sebaceous oil glands.

How does BBL Forever Clear work?
This therapy utilizes multiple BBL filters to target selectively the P. acnes bacteria and sebaceous oil glands. The goal is to pack the skin with light to impact the entire pilosebaceous unit.

The 420nm filter (blue light) is effective in targeting porphyrins. The porphyrins are produced by the P. acnes bacteria. The blue light will cause phot excitation of the P. acnes porphyrins after exposure to light. The process forms singlet oxygen with the microorganism itself, leading to the selective destruction of the bacteria.

The addition of the 560nm filter (yellow light) is effective in treating mild to moderate inflammatory acne lesions.
The addition of the 590nm filter (red light) is effective in treating the deeper lesion that is impacted by the sebaceous oil gland. The red light is heating the gland to aid in minimizing its production of oil.

How many treatments will I need?
Multiple consecutive sessions will be needed to reduce acne and severity of lesions. Treatment schedule: 4-8 sessions are necessary as part of the acne therapy program.

Does it hurt?
The sensation of light may be uncomfortable in certain areas and feel like a pin pricks or bursts of heat. Usually the use of topical anesthesia is avoided in light based acne procedures.

Can tanned skin be treated?
An active tan from the sun or tanning beds is not appropriate for treating with BBL. Tanned skin has a lot of pigment or melanin that may also absorb the BBL light energy intended for the hair follicles. It is recommended that a person does not
have sun exposure in the area to be treated for at least 3 weeks prior to treatment. Self tanners must be faded from skin for at least a week to 10 days prior to treatment.

Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
You can not have this treatment if pregnant or breastfeeding.
