This treatment turns back the clock by addressing the visible signs associated with aging skin. This innovative technology uniquely delivers light therapy targeting the signs of aging and sun damage and effectively provides a more refreshed, rejuvenated and youthful appearance. BBL can effectively treat age spots, freckles, redness, small vessels and more.
Usually requires 1-3 corrective treatments. Maintenance treatments are recommended yearly.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Schedule your appointment at least 2 weeks prior to any event/vacation. Redness, bruising and peeling may be present during that time.

Avoid of Accutane for at least 6 months is required.

Discontinue Retinol 24-48 hours prior to procedure to reduce sensitivity. Avoid sun tanning, tanning beds or self tanners 3-4 weeks prior to treatment.

Avoid alcohol and cigarettes 24-48 hours before and after your treatment. These may increase risk of bruising and bleeding.

Discontinue use of photosensitivity medications such as Doxycycline, Minocycline, Isotretinoin (Sotret), Claravis, Amnesteem, PDT)

If you have a history of cold sores your provider may prescribe an antiviral. You may not have a active rash or infection in the treatment area.

Notify your provider if you have a history of skin cancer such as melanoma, medical conditions that affect wound healing, history of keloid scar formation or compromised immune system.

Notify your provider if you have a history of seizures or migraines. Notify your provider if you have heavy Aspirin use or are on anticoagulants. You can not have this treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Post treatment guidelines

Bruising, redness, swelling and sensitivity may be present up to a few days after treatment.

Be gentle. DO NOT pick or scratch the treatment area.

Post Treatment

Makeup may be applied immediately after the treatment as long as skin integrity has not been compromised.

Avoid sun tanning and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Strictly avoid any sun exposure to the treated area for a minimum of 7 days after the procedure. The treated area is more prone to sunburn and pigmentation change. Keep the area covered and use a physical sunblock protection of 45+ and reapply every 2 hours.

Avoid heat (saunas or hot tubs) for 48 hours.

May start regular skin care routine directly after. Recommend waiting 24-48 hours before using any skin exfoliants.

Freckles and sun spots may turn slightly darker initially and then flake off within 7-14 days.

For vascular treatments avoid triggers that can re-cannulate vessels such as alcohol, hot tubs, saunas, and spicy food for 48 hours post treatment.

What is BBL?
BBL (Broadband Light) uses the power of intense pulsed light to deliver exceptional results in photorejuvenation therapy. It can be used to treat and broad range of skin concerns caused by aging, acne and sun exposure. It can also provide more youthful looking skin by stimulating collagen and elastin.

What is the downtime?
You may have some mild redness and look and feel like you have a sunburn after treatment. This can be covered with makeup and you can return to your regular routine. No sun exposure, tanning beds, hot tubs, or saunas for 7-10 days after treatment. It is recommended to keep your body temperature down for at least 24-48 hours after including no strenuous exercise.

Can I get this treatment for melasma?
We do not recommend BBL treatment for patients with melanoma. We recommend chemical peels, microneedling, Moxi and medical grade skincare.

When will I see results?
Pigment will initially darken and improve around 10-14 days. Redness improves during the treatment and over the next few days. Facial vessels improve during the treatment or over the next several days.

How long do results last?
Results from the treatment are permanent. We recommend maintenance treatments 2-3 times per year.

Does it hurt?
The procedure is well tolerated. No topical anesthesia needed. Are there any side effects I should know about?
The most common side effects include mild sunburn look and feel. Swelling and rarely hyper or hypopigmentation.

When can I wear makeup?
Make up may be worn immediately after treatment is the skin is not compromised. Can I have this treatment if I am pregnant or breastfeeding.
