What is Microneedling - A Guide

Updated: May 19, 2023

Microneedling has gained popularity in recent years — especially because it is a minimally invasive procedure, but also because of its various benefits. You might find it surprising that the procedure has actually been around since 1995, but with the advancement of technology, this treatment has evolved into countless pens and devices that patients can choose from.

As we age, we begin to lose collagen in our skin which in turn causes our skin to become thinner and less elastic. Microneedling tackles this by inducing collagen directly into your skin via tiny needles, depending on your case different depths can be selected to target different layers of your skin.

At Alora Aesthetics, we offer SkinStylus SteriLock® MicroSystem which is the only microneedling device that is FDA-cleared to go 2.5 mm. One of our favorite treatments is our Microneedling with Hyaluronic Acid. Microneedling on its own can be a very effective and powerful treatment, however when you introduce other serums, or products such as Hyaluronic Acid, that is when results can be optimized and even targeted for specific needs.

Microneedling allows for products to be absorbed deeper into the skin, and more easily, too. Adding Hyaluronic Acid into your skincare routine can help promote youthful-looking skin by smoothing skin texture, incorporating hydration, and tightening the skin. So when you add this to your microneedling treatment this allows for a deeper level of absorption, which your skin loves! We offer multiple microneedling treatment options at Alora Aesthetics and we know the importance of tailoring each treatment plan to our patient's goals and needs. We strongly believe there is not a one size fits all approach to skin and each case is different so patients are able to choose from other microneedling add-ons such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) which can also boost your results and build collagen.
